The original "Conversation of Lines" happened in ancient Greece. The contemporary Conversation of Lines is happening here!

I'll be teaching a figure class at the Nelson-Atkins Museum

I am excited to announce that I will be teaching my 2nd class at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City: Figures from History: Drawing the Human Body. (Register here.)

The class is 8 weeks, meeting on Saturdays (I believe 1:00-4:30, but official details of the class haven't been announced on the Nelson's website yet) from January to March 2020. The class will be a combination of classroom drawing, discussion, and demos and drawing from the Nelson's incredible collection of painted and sculpted artworks.

This is the class description as I have submitted it:

Explore the figure in front of the Nelson-Atkins’ greatest painted and sculpted works.  This class for all skill levels gives students the opportunity to learn and discuss realistic figure drawing concepts and techniques.  Class time will be divided between demonstrations, discussion, and drawing practice with instructor input in the museum galleries.  Discussion topics will include: proportions of the body, understanding how the body is constructed and how to represent it in a drawing, the effects of light, and how to use mark-making to  indicate form.  All materials provided.
